Some sporadic information is available on the whereabouts of Brys during the latter part of the century. During the 1980’s he more frequently traveled from his base in Paris. In addition to his childhood haunts in the South of France he spent some time in Holland and Germany. |

These are again consistent with his contact with the ‘Welsh in Exile’ and in particular artists and musicians from Wales working abroad. A number remember his generous support. Coupled with the more artistic element were the usual sex and drug tourists from South Wales together with a sizeable contingent of migrant workers from that area. Brys had by all accounts had his fill of sex and drugs tourism in the late 1960’s but took to European beer with some enthusiasm. Bizarrely this was coupled with a new found love of cycling and he would pop up in Brussels, Amsterdam and as far afield as Heidelberg and Collioure on a bicycle. This has remained an abiding passion and every year he decamps to the South to watch the Tour de France in the Alps and Pyrenees. |

The art of the low countries had an influence on Brys as evidenced by the ‘Vermeer Series’, a number of which are included in the gallery. This series originated in a long running debate (25 years to date) between Brys and the artist Michael Crowther. |

For several years Brys has made a tradition of sending paintings in this vein to friends as presents and as Christmas, birthday and other cards. Despite several approaches to the Foundation for wider reproduction he has preferred to keep these among his circle of friends to date. |
