The Rocket5 - known locally as the Rockets- were an early South Wales supergroup. Formed from several early beat groups they played for several years in the mid 1960’s. They were unusual for the time coming from ‘all five corners of South Wales’ according to the album cover reproduced below. This is based upon the original artwork undertaken by Huw Brys. Their lead singer, Brian Hibbard, is perhaps the best known member going on to achieve a Christmas No1 in the hit parade with The Flying Pickets. He is now a well known actor winning a Bafta best actor award in 2006. The lead guitarist is now a professor and head of an international School of Architecture.
